Sourcing
Plan pricing and terms come from the Public Utility Commission of Texas's official Power to Choose export, individually enriched with Electricity Facts Label data we fetched and parsed ourselves. ZIP- to-delivery-utility mapping comes from each utility's own published service-territory lists. Our guide content (relocation steps, savings tips, plan-structure explanations) is written from official state agency guidance: the Public Utility Commission of Texas, Texas DPS, TxDMV, and Texas Secretary of State: cited directly at the bottom of each page. Full detail on the plan data specifically lives on our Data Sources page.
Review and updates
Our small team reviews guide content periodically against current official guidance and updates pages when rules, terminology, or plan structures we describe change: each page that's been reviewed shows a "last reviewed" date. Plan data is refreshed manually rather than continuously; see Data Sources for exactly how current it is as of today.
Corrections
If something on this site is factually wrong: a plan detail, a guide's description of a rule, a broken link: tell us through the Contact page's error-reporting option. We read every submission and correct genuine errors; if a correction changes a page's substance, we update its "last reviewed" date to reflect that.
Independence from providers
We don't accept payment from any electricity provider in exchange for placement, ranking, or a more favorable recommendation. Every plan in a comparison is scored by the same deterministic code, documented in full on our How We Rank Plans page, regardless of which company sells it. Electricity shopping and enrollment are currently provided through an embedded I Moved to Texas marketplace. I Moved to Texas may receive compensation for an eligible completed enrollment, but that relationship does not change the marketplace's plan details or our independent educational content.
Referral and affiliate relationships
I Moved to Texas does not currently have an active solar referral partner. EnergySage and Project Solar are not published as referral partners; a future solar relationship will be added only after its approval, tracking, and terms are confirmed. Our insurance guides may include clearly labeled sponsored links to Lemonade. We may receive compensation when a reader requests a quote or purchases through one of those links. We do not collect the insurance application, represent ourselves as the insurer, or claim that an affiliate product is right for every household. Compensation never changes the facts, source selection, warnings, or editorial conclusions on a guide. The quote and policy documents control insurance coverage. Likewise, we do not rank solar quote sources, and a future quote link would not be an endorsement or a guarantee that solar is right for a home. Put simply: a compensated relationship can change how we're paid; it cannot buy what we tell you.
What we don't claim
We're not a licensed financial advisor, insurance agency, law firm, or accredited news organization, and nothing on this site should be read as professional financial or legal advice. Our team consists of people who researched and built this tool, not credentialed energy-market analysts: where we state a fact about Texas electricity regulation or a specific plan's terms, we cite the source directly so you can verify it yourself rather than take our word on authority alone.
