Sourcing
Plan pricing and terms come from the Public Utility Commission of Texas's official Power to Choose export, individually enriched with Electricity Facts Label data we fetched and parsed ourselves. ZIP- to-delivery-utility mapping comes from each utility's own published service-territory lists. Our guide content (relocation steps, savings tips, plan-structure explanations) is written from official state agency guidance — the Public Utility Commission of Texas, Texas DPS, TxDMV, and Texas Secretary of State — cited directly at the bottom of each page. Full detail on the plan data specifically lives on our Data Sources page.
Review and updates
Our small team reviews guide content periodically against current official guidance and updates pages when rules, terminology, or plan structures we describe change — each page that's been reviewed shows a "last reviewed" date. Plan data is refreshed manually rather than continuously; see Data Sources for exactly how current it is as of today.
Corrections
If something on this site is factually wrong — a plan detail, a guide's description of a rule, a broken link — tell us through the Contact page's error-reporting option. We read every submission and correct genuine errors; if a correction changes a page's substance, we update its "last reviewed" date to reflect that.
Independence from providers
We don't accept payment from any electricity provider in exchange for placement, ranking, or a more favorable recommendation. Every plan in a comparison is scored by the same deterministic code, documented in full on our How We Rank Plans page, regardless of which company sells it. As of this writing, we do not add our own referral or affiliate tracking to the outbound "Enroll" links on plan results — clicking through takes you to the provider's own sign-up page exactly as it appears in our source data.
Referral and affiliate relationships
We may establish referral or affiliate relationships with providers or other companies in the future as a way to support running this site. If and when we do, any compensated link will be clearly disclosed on this page before it takes effect — not buried in a terms document. Whether or not a given link is compensated, it will never influence a plan's calculated cost, its safety/gimmick flags, which plans are chosen as your Best Value, Safest Choice, or Best Long-Term recommendation, or how any plan or provider ranks anywhere on this site. That logic runs through the same fixed rules for every plan either way — see How We Rank Plans. Put simply: a compensated link might change how we're paid; it will not change what we tell you.
What we don't claim
We're not a licensed financial advisor, insurance agency, law firm, or accredited news organization, and nothing on this site should be read as professional financial or legal advice. Our team consists of people who researched and built this tool, not credentialed energy-market analysts — where we state a fact about Texas electricity regulation or a specific plan's terms, we cite the source directly so you can verify it yourself rather than take our word on authority alone.
